Your Search for a Fabulous Holiday Ends With Indian Rocks Beach

Indian Rocks Beach is located on the West Coast of Florida on a barrier island. The Beach is only a 30 minute drive away from Tampa International Airport. Legend says that this beach got its name when a local medicine man miraculously cured his chief with waters from a natural sulfur spring that is believed to be located in Kolb Park across from the city hall located in the beach. The early inhabitants watching Indians on their way to the spring encircled by rocks said: “The Indians are on their way to the rocks”. Thereafter, when the road from the waterway opened, this area gained a lot of popularity with picnickers.

The Indian Beach Hotel and the Indian Rocks Sundry Store are the early landmarks of this area. During the early days, the community in the Indian Rocks Beach grew and developed but it was only after World War II did growth begun to accelerate at an extremely rapid pace. Today, this area is a thriving community retaining its original old world charm and yet supporting an eclectic mixture of recreational activities. The beach boasts of nature preserves, parks, sandy shores and a warm and inviting smile on the faces of every resident. The residents of this area include active retirees, northern snowbirds, empty nesters and young families.
